Overview of Healthcare Needs
Despite having over 700 healthcare establishments, including 25 hospitals, there is still a deficiency in healthcare services in Haiti. Healthcare establishments are often poorly maintained and lack basic medications, food, water, electricity, and proper medical services for patients. It is believed that a large number of deaths and illnesses in Haiti can be avoided by increased access to care and basic health and nutritional education.
