Our Local Work

In the United States, Bridge of Life focuses on early detection and prevention of kidney and chronic disease through community-based screenings. While healthcare access exists, millions of people are still living with undiagnosed conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease, often without knowing it until it has already progressed. Our work meets people where they are, creating simple, accessible opportunities to understand their health earlier and take action.

We partner with local organizations, including community organizations and YMCAs, to bring free health screenings directly into communities. These events are designed to be quick, easy, and welcoming: no insurance required, no barriers to participation. Participants move through a streamlined process that includes vital signs, urine and blood testing, and real-time results. But the most important part isn’t the test, it’s the conversation that follows. Individuals can sit down with a provider, understand what their numbers mean, and learn what steps to take next.

We support community partners in outreach and engagement, provide education on managing risk factors like hypertension and diabetes, and help connect participants to local resources for follow-up care. Volunteers play a critical role in this effort, from clinicians who guide conversations to community members who create a supportive and welcoming environment.
