Overview of Healthcare Needs
In Mongolia, The Global Burden of Disease 2015 study ranks chronic kidney disease (CKD) as the fifth leading cause of death in the country. The annual mortality rate of CKD per 100,000 people is 12.4, and CKD accounts for 680 annual years of healthy life lost per 100,000 people. Many regions in Mongolia, especially more rural areas, do not have available dialysis clinics, which can lead to lack of treatment and ultimately death for many patients.
